The Eiffel Tower, in Paris, opens to the public

The film Tomorrowland starring George Clooney gives us the impression that Gustave Eiffel is a very important member of Plus Ultra. Eiffel was a prolific engineer, but I haven't come across him so far in my research. Gustave does have something to tell you though... He did make a big splash with the delivery of The Eiffel Tower, and so 9 months later, were born:
