Richard Grenell

Grenell, who served as the U.S. Ambassador to Germany from May 2018 to June 2020, made history by becoming the first openly gay person to be appointed as a U.S. Ambassador to a G-7 country. Additionally, during his tenure as Ambassador to Germany, Grenell played a significant role in advocating for the Trump administration’s foreign policy objectives, particularly in areas such as NATO defense spending and economic relations between the United States and Germany. His time in Germany was marked by a combination of diplomatic efforts and his unique position as a trailblazing ambassador.
