(Note: all pageant title holders are provided a chaperone, who is often an ex title holder herself).

How would you like to go sunbathing in Hawaii, attend a lobster bake in the Maritimes or whoop it up during Edmonton’s Klondike Days — all in the line of duty?

These were just a few of the “duties” Carol Fotheringham, of Don Mills, was called upon to perform as official guardian, chaperone and companion to Miss Canada and Miss Teenage Canada, over the past year.

As public relations director for both pageants it was Carol’s job to set up all press interviews with contestants and winners, look after dignitaries attending the various pre-pageant functions, and travel with the winners across Canada and all over the world.

During the past year she has accompanied Miss Teenage Canada Jewel McAveny, of Montreal, across Canada to tour hospitals and charitable institutions and attend everything from Moncton’s annual Lobster Festival to Buffalo Days in Regina.
